LET THERE BE LIGHT

Another hard to find service that we offer at Little Jack Horner’s is lamp and chandelier restoration. The majority of lamps purchased today will probably never survive long enough for restoration. However, many older lamps, and chandeliers in particular, are worthy of saving.
While we have restored many chandeliers, we don’t have much photographic evidence of the work. I’m afraid it is very hard to get good images of a hanging fixture. At least it is for me. We do actually have an area in the shop that was intended to be used for photography. I even have a professional backdrop. However, it always seems that somebody’s furniture in in that spot. So the photos are what they are.
Below you can see the before and after images of the latest chandelier we restored. It came to us after being broken and stored for years. Many crystals were missing, the brass was dirty and tarnished, and the electrical components were beyond unsafe.

The restoration included a complete dis-assembly of the fixture, followed by cataloging all the parts.
The brass parts, all 125 pieces, were carefully cleaned and polished. The parts were reassembled and the electrical components replaced and rewired.
The crystals were first cleaned in order to inspect them for chips and breaks. All original crystals that were in usable condition were cleaned again and combined with new replacement crystals. Then all were assembled into their proper configuration. Following the reassembly of the frame, all the crystals were rehung.

With a total of 1292 individual crystals this chandelier should reflect brilliantly on it’s surroundings.
